Self Drive Boating Holidays.
For those of you wishing to do a boating holiday on the Thames in a wide beam boat, then why not take a self -drive boating holiday on a wide beam boat and experience a luxury boating holiday on the Thames.
Geanna is an easy boat to drive and following the handover and tuition, you can then cruise at your own pace on the Thames. Why not explore picturesque Marlow and historic Royal Windsor? Or go further afield on a longer holiday to Oxford? The choice is yours. There are plenty of interesting places to visit along the way.

Accommodation
Bedrooms:
The bedroom cabins are bespoke and fitted with beautiful quality ash wood. Each cabin has a window, fitted wardrobe, 240V sockets, satellite TV and hair dryer. All cabins have ensuite flushing WC, hand basin and shower.

Kitchen:
Beautifully fitted with bespoke Ash wood finish and granite work surfaces. Fully equipped with all cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, tablets are also supplied for the dishwasher on-board. There is a fridge, freezer, microwave oven, 5 ring gas stove with fan extractor above, grill and oven. The kitchen has everything you could possibly wish for to create the perfect dinner.
Saloon:
A real feature and particularly spacious with open plan dining ideal for entertaining with skylights and many large windows making this a really bright and airy room. The saloon opens on to the front deck where you can dine and relax outside and enjoy the ever changing stunning River Thames scenery. There is central heating via radiators and a fuel burning stove to keep you warm and cosy in the cooler months. The two dinettes both easily convert to 2 double beds. In the saloon is a 42′ TV with Amazon Firestick and DVD.
Suitability:
Children welcome, ideal for the elderly but please be minded there are two steps down to the interior of the boat. Wheelchair inaccessible, up to 2 dogs welcome, non smoking.
So where can you cruise to?
Why not re-live the same boat journey on the River Thames as Jerome K Jerome in his book ‘3 men In A Boat’ and cruise to Pangbourne. Pangbourne is also the home of Kenneth Grahame, author of The Wind in the Willows. You will also pass Mapledurham House, dating from 1588 and thought to be the model for Toad Hall and was also used in the filming of ‘Where eagles Dare’.
Alternatively, how about a leisurely boat cruise to Sonning and Henley-On-Thames? Experience the bustling market town of Henley & the Royal Regatta or how about the Henley 80′s Rewind Festival? Henley is a great place to moor up for a couple of nights and provides a great base to explore the surrounding area from. The River Rowing Museum in Henley provides interest for all the family. The parks on the banks of the Thames at Henley provide ample space for children to play, family picnics or dog walking. All amenities are within walking distance from the boat moorings on the river bank.
The beauty of a self drive narrow boat holiday is that you have the freedom to choose where you cruise to.
For a 4 day midweek cruises why not cruise downstream to Marlow? Or in a 7 night holiday you can easily cruise to Royal Windsor and visit Windsor castle and Legoland.
For longer breaks of 10 days, why not cruise and moor up outside Hampton Court Palace and join King Henry VIII for his wedding celebration at Hampton Court Palace (daily at 3.00pm). The choice is yours and you will certainly see some of the most picturesque countryside England has to offer, only ever seen from the River Thames. All the locks are mechanised and manned by very knowledgeable lock keepers. No cruising after dark is permitted.

Pricing Guide
Prices are inclusive of VAT and are for a self drive holiday. The prices include boat insurance, diesel and VAT. Dogs are welcome (max 2 dogs) at £25.00 per dog. A non-refundable deposit payment of 20% is required to reserve your dates and the balance is due 8 weeks before your holiday start date. There is a locked secure car park on site. This must be booked in advance and is £6 per car per night. Fuel burner packs (logs / coal etc) can also be purchased at booking.

Hire Times: Your hire begins promptly at your designated departure slot time which will be given to you prior to your holiday start date. This will be at 1.30pm beginning at our office Selway RG4 5BY and then after check in, you collect the boat at Betterboating, Caversham Reading RG4 5BS. We reserve the right to change these times at any time, depending on circumstances. The boat is to be returned at 10.00am on the last day of hire. 1 to 2 hour’s tuition is given depending on experience, including going through a lock with an RYA instructor.
You will be asked to supply your route plans in case you require assistance. Please be advised that in the months of June, July and August is can be very busy in Henley due to the Henley Regatta and Henley festivals and moorings will be extremely limited. We advise guests to not moor in Henley during these busy months. We also advise guests with mobility issues to be aware that some moorings on the Thames are not suitable for wheel chairs and embarking and disembarking the boat may be difficult due to the difference in height from the boat and the bank. Please do check with us prior to booking to make sure the holiday is suitable for any mobility needs.
A non-refundable booking deposit of 20% is required to secure a booking. The balance is due 8 weeks prior to the holiday. We advise that you should arrange your own cancellation cover as this is not included in the holiday price. In case of damage or losses to the boat or it’s equipment, fixtures and fittings, we will need to authenticate a credit or debit card prior to your boat hire. No monies will be authorised to be taken provided the boat is returned with no breakages or losses . During the handover, you will be asked to sign a boat acceptance form and it is important hirer’s check they are happy with the condition of the boat and in the unlikely event of any short comings, the hirer must alert myrivercruising immediately so it can be rectified.
